Renowned opposition lawmaker as new democratic rep of MIGS

The south-Galolhu lawmaker Ahmed Mahloof has been appointed as a democratic representative to Canada's Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies (MIGS).

According to the Canadian organization they acknowledge the lawmaker's efforts and advocacy towards human rights while they condemned the unlawful prosecutions the politician faces by Maldives government.

Executive Director of MIGS, Kyle Matthew had praised the opposition lawmaker for his continued stand and efforts against injustice as well as his contributions towards human rights movements in the island nation.

MIGS had also ensured to work for the lawmaker's freedom and to aid in reforming the democratic system of Maldives.

Earlier Amnesty International noted Mahloof was a 'prisoner of conscience' and should be unshackled from all allegations and prosecutions he faces. For his diligent work as a politician and parliamentarian towards democratic reform works Mahloof was awarded Defender Of Democracy by Parliamentarians for Global Actions.
