Authorities again shift AP leader to house arrest

Religiously conservative Adaalath Party's leader Sheikh Imran Abdulla who was jailed for his involvement in the infamous May-Day parade was on Tuesday shifted to house arrest once again.

Though the religious leader was under house arrest previously he was shifted back to state-run penitentiary outside of the capital. He was shifted to penitentiary due to the political unrest that followed the Maldives Supreme Court order on February 1 and after president Yameen declared state of emergency on February 5.

Adaalath Party has confirmed their leader was once again shifted back to house arrest sometime on Tuesday.

Criminal Court has sentenced him to jail for being found guilty of terrorism over his alleged provocative speech on May 1, 2015.
