There has been no news or sign of the young man who has been missing in Alif Dhaal Atoll Fenfushi island since Saturday, his family said Monday.
Coastguard along with the police are searching for the 29 year old man, now identified as Adnan.
Adnan's brother Aboobakuru Moosa told AVAS that the family has searched neighbouring islands with no luck so far.
Aboobakuru said even the family is unsure when Adnan had gone missing. Adnan was last seen around 11.30pm on Saturday, he added.
A dinghy is also missing from the island's harbour leading authorities to believe that Adnan might have taken the dinghy out to sea. The dinghy believed to be the one missing from Fenfushi had been found near neighbouring Mahibadhoo island.
Aboobakuru however, confirmed that the dinghy found near Mahibadhoo was not the one missing from Fenfushi island.
"He was last seen on Saturday night. He didn't say he was going anywhere. And he doesn't usually go fishing. He is also in between jobs," Aboobakuru said.
Coastguard divers are searching the island's lagoon and has urged the public to come forward with any information related to the missing man.
