Maldives to host world's largest hackathon event

Largest telecommunication provider in Maldives; Dhiraagu has partnered up to host the world's largest 'hackathon' event - AngelHack.

Speaking at the ceremony to launch 'AngelHack Maldives' on Tuesday evening the Director of Business Development of Dhiraagu, Ahmed Maumoon said the event will allow local developers and coders to showcase their work and prowess to an international community.

AngelHack Maldives has been slated for July 21 and 22 at National Art Gallery. The event has been brought to the island nation for the first time by a local venture named Spark Hub.

Managing Partner of Spark Hub Ali Haris said it is a proud moment for Maldives and its public. He had focused on the positive impact a globally recognized event will have on local developers and entrepreneurs.

"Winners from the hackathon will receive the chance to fly to San Francisco to participate in Global Demo-Day," Haris said adding "this will open several opportunities for local programmers and coders."
