Ruling Progressive Party of Maldives' (PPM) Secretary General and Nilandhoo MP Abdulla Khaleel has assured the party will reveal its manifesto for the next five year term soon.
While the ruling party's secretary general has claimed the campaign manifesto will be revealed soon, incumbent president during an earlier rally announced PPM's manifesto will be revealed in September 2017.
Addressing to a question regarding the considerable delay in revealing the party's manifesto, Khaleel said they were uninterested in rushing their policies unlike the opposition. He too echoed president Abdulla Yameen's claim of revealing a manifesto "promising glad tidings to the people of Maldives."
Khaleel had also criticized opposition MDP's campaign manifesto stating they are repeating the same pledges they made for 2008 elections. He also accused the prime opposition party of misleading the public with their pledges.
PPM's secretary general had also challenged MDP stating the opposition party were "all bark and no bite."
"Lets take a look at taxation on menstrual pads, it was first introduced during MDP's administration. When they introduced taxing, menstrual pads were including in the list of items charged with tax but now they are claiming to exempt taxes on these items for the public's benefit," Khaleel noted.
