Unknown assailants have smashed the glass window of prime opposition Maldivian Democratic Party's (MDP) main office on Wednesday early morning.
The incident occurred sometime after midnight when the window was smashed using bricks. The attack has already been reported to Maldives Police Service by the party.
An MDP official has confirmed two police officers visited the party main office site moments after the incident was reported. The officers had collected evidence from the scene before leaving.
Additionally the party has handed over CCTV footage for police investigation as well.
This marks the second attempt directed towards the main opposition party since they have commenced presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's campaign activities.
Earlier when Solih visited reclaimed suburb, Hulhumale' as part of his door-to-door campaign a group of assailants had attempted to assault him. A few of the party's senior officials were attacked with crude oil on the same day as well.
