A deceased elderly man has been discovered from the lagoon of Addu City.
The elderly man, believed to be aged 80 years old identified as one Abdulla Manik was discovered floating at the lagoon of Kudhumaarehaa (an uninhabited island in the atoll); opposite Addu City link road.
Maldives Police claim his family reported a missing person case to the authority at 00:43hrs on early Tuesday.
Authorities confirm the deceased man was discovered from the lagoon around 08:00hrs on Tuesday morning.
It is firmly believed that Abdulla Manik died from drowning and showed no external injuries on his body when discovered. He is reported to frequent the area for regular swims.
