Maldivian local carrying a large sum of counterfeit US Dollar bills have been apprehended at Bandaranaike Airport by Sri Lankan authorities.
The local was attempting to depart from Sri Lanka at the time of apprehension by Lanka's Narcotics Bureau.
Sri Lankan media reports the 49 year old Maldivian was carrying the counterfeit bills inside his trousers. Authorities claim he was carrying 13.6 million in Lankan Rupees (equivalent to USD8,000) in counterfeit money.
The individual has been remanded by Sri Lankan police while Airport Crime Investigation Department is currently investigating the case.
