Tourism Ministry statistics indicate an 8.1% increase in tourist visits to Maldives in July 2018.
According to the ministry's reflected statistics a total of 122,332 holidaymakers visited the island nation during the month of July this year while in 2017 the figure reached 113,175 during the same month; thus registering the 8.1% jump.
From January til the end of July 2018 the total number of tourists visiting Maldives hit 848,847 whereas during the same period in 2017 the holidaymaker visits to Maldives reached 770,715 which in terms of the elapsed seven months is a 10.1% increase.
China remains as the largest single-market contributor in tourist figures to Maldives with a total of 33,227 Chinese travelers gracing the island nation during the month of July. However, this marks a 3.1% slide from 2017's 34,276 during the same period.
India lands as the second biggest market from Asian region for last month with a total of 5,694 tourists visiting Maldives marking a 5.7% increase from 5,386 during the same month in 2017.
Looking at the European tourist market France shows promising growth in tourist numbers with 2,043 tourists visiting in July, while in 2017 the French travelers visiting Maldives in the same month reached only 1,504 thus marking a 35% increase in 2018.
Italy follows closely on second with 4,644 tourists visiting Maldives during the said month, which is a 25.6% increase from 3,698 visitors in 2017.
UK or Britain still remains the number one tourist market contributor from European region with a total of 8,421 holidaymakers gracing Maldives in July 2018. This is 9.3% increase from the 7,705 travelers visiting the island nation in 2017.
Germany rests as the second largest tourist contributor from Europe with a total of 6,932 making their way to Maldivian resorts in July 2018. In 2017 German visits to Maldivian resorts in July hit 6,830 thus increasing the market by 1.5% this year.
