Maldives government on Sunday has decided to increase the salaries of all employed nurses by 15 percent.
Health Ministry's statement on Sunday said the new nurses regulation became effective on August 1, and after implementation of the new regulation salaries of all employed nurses will increase by the said percentage.
Career promotions are granted to nurses in every two years based on academic qualifications and relative training received. The new regulation also provides further career opportunities following completion of higher studies in nursing.
The new nurses regulation has incorporated guidelines for specialized nurses as well, with specific promotions aimed at such nurses.
Health Ministry confirms the new regulations were compiled with the assistance of Civil Service Commission (CSC), Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), Maldives Nursing and Midwifery Council as well as based on advise and recommendations of technical experts in the field.
