President of Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has postponed his planned trip northern hub - Haa Dhaal Kulhudhuffushi - from afternoon to evening on Wednesday.
Though earlier it was announced the island nation's president will grace the 'heart of the north' around late afternoon, president Yameen is now expected to arrive at the island around 20:15hrs on Wednesday evening.
While the exact reason for president Yameen's decision to postpone his arrival to Kulhudhuffushi has not been disclosed, he may have decided to allow the islanders to fully invest their late afternoon hours for a long practiced traditional Eid activity; locally named as 'Mashi-Maali Parade'.
The activity exclusive to Kulhudhuffushi attracts almost all inhabitants of the island while several from nearby islands visit to witness the event in specific.
President Yameen is expected to participate in the commemoration ceremonies marking conclusion of road development and shoreline protection projects.
