On the first day the newly opened Sinamale' Bridge, linking the country's capital with airport island Hulhule', local authorities were rushed to sort out a bike collision on the structure.
Though Maldives Police have not stepped forward with any details about the accident, reports confirm no one was seriously injured. However, the bikes involved in the collision were damaged significantly.
Earlier another accident took place at the ring-road, part of the Male' City perimeter road; Boduthakurufaanu Magu, specifically the area which links to the Sinamale' Bridge before 24 hours elapsed since the roads were open for public.
Another bike collision resulted on Saturday morning in front of artificial beach on Boduthakurufaanu Magu, with no serious injuries.
The newly opened ring-road has been stretched in its width with four lanes (two on either side) with asphalt installed on ground.
The relative open space for travel has resulted in vehicle collisions over the 48 hours that had elapsed since the ring-road section were opened. Surprisingly traffic police are not present across the ring-road area to monitor vehicle traffic and speed.
