Spouse of Dhiggaru constituency lawmaker Ahmed Faris Maumoon, Mariyam Leeshia is currently visiting her husband's constituency on a campaign visit.
The Dhiggaru MP's wife is visiting his constituency in campaign efforts seeking support for opposition coalition presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, with whom the lawmaker has alliance.
Though she has been visibly distant from local politics, she has made a few exceptional appearances publicly ever since the imprisonment of MP Faris Maumoon.
The MP has been charged with impersonation, with a jail time of four months and 24 days sentenced on him. Though he as been criminally convicted for the charge, his has not been deposed from his parliament seat.
MP Faris Maumoon's wife received a warm welcome from the lawmaker's constituency upon arrival on Monday afternoon. She had visited several residences of the island to seek their political opinion and rally in support for opposition.
