United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has agreed to waive visa fee for Maldivians travelling to the middle-eastern country from next year, new Maldives foreign minister Abdulla Shahid has announced.
During his recent visit to UAE, Shahid had met with his counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan where the two countries had reached a new visa agreement.
"... and Maldivians will be able to travel to UAE, visa- free beginning of next year," the seasoned diplomat announced on Twitter.
Shahid said he had briefed his counterpart on the new government's policies and discussed strengthening of bilateral ties, increasing trade and investment.
During his three day visit to UAE, Shahid had also met with the Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi.
