Maldives seeks PR firm to promote tourism in US

Maldives government has officially sought an agency to represent the archipelago in a bid to promote its tourism in the United States (US).

The country's main tourism promotion body has asked interested parties to submit bids by Wednesday.

Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC) in its announcement said the firm would represent the island nation for a period of 12 months.

Maldives has hired foreign firms to promote tourism in various continents including Europe.

US remains a key market for the luxury island destination welcoming 37,835 US holiday makers by November last year. The figure was a 10 percent increase in US tourists from the corresponding period last year.
