Asset declarations of top government officials have been publicized on Thursday by the President's Office.
Financial statements of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Vice President Faisal Naseem and all cabinet ministers were revealed, in line with the government's commitment to eliminate corruption. Declaration of assets and income of government officials was an electoral pledge of President Solih.
The pledge states that the administration will disclose and regularly review financial statements of all senior political appointees at all ministries, state institutions, and state companies.
This is the first time a government has voluntarily disclosed the financial status of its senior members in Maldivian history. In the upcoming days, the statements of all political appointees of the current government will also be publicized, which will be updated on the President's Office website annually.
The financial statements publicized on Thursday revealed that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih earned MVR 1,532,690 in salaries and allowances in the past months, while Vice President Faisal Naseem earned MVR 1,710,000 through various sources. Neither the President nor the Vice President have any outstanding debts, while both have ownership of property.
The administration is collaborating closely with relevant authorities and organizations, seeking their counsel in the fight against corruption.
