Health Ministry has informed that pre-medicine or qualifications equivalent to pre-medicine will no longer be recognized as an acceptable criteria for MBBS and BDS.
A statement released by the Health Ministry read that the global standards of international medical schools are decreasing due to the course structure. Although the year long pre-medicine program is recognized as an alternative to GCE O levels in some countries, renowned international universities no longer accept pre-medicine or foundation programs as a minimum requirement for medical school entry.
While pre-medicine programs remain unpopular among international medical councils, some countries cut back the program from one year to six months, noted the ministry.
