Czech tourist dies in second drowning tragedy in a week

A Czech Republic tourist has been discovered dead in a Maldives' resort.

The 84 year old man was discovered floating dead in the sea at Paradise Island Resort of Male' atoll. The incident was reported at 3.15 pm on Saturday, upon which the body was brought to ADK Hospital where he was declared dead.

Earlier this week, an elderly Korean tourist had drowned at the same resort, while two Filipino honeymooners also drowned tragically in a similar incident in Dhiffushi Island recently.

Following the incidents, the Tourism Ministry has initiated a new campaign to re-inspect all tourist accommodation facilities to ensure that they are safe environments and poses no risks to it visitors.
