The government has introduced an online portal for the easy submission of applications for social housing.
The government previously followed a manual system, where the citizens had to queue under the sun for long hours in order to file their applications. A solution to this issue will be sought within the first 100 days of administration, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had vowed.
The online portal was officially introduced on Monday by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Aminath Athifa. The portal was developed and established by the joint effort of the Housing Ministry and Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology, informed State Minister of Housing Ministry, Ahmed Nasheed. Nasheed said the portal will allow people to apply for housing without having to wait in queues, even if they are are abroad at the time of application.
The portal is not currently accepting any applications for any housing schemes, but will be open for submission when application for the 4000 housing units announced by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is opened.
