Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) have revealed that they have introduced diving robots in the effort to locate the 19 year old woman who went missing after a dinghy capsized between Kadhdhoo and Maamendhoo island of Laamu atoll.
Shima Nafiz drifted away in the sea after the dinghy she was traveling in with an additional man capsized in choppy waters last Friday. Upon falling overboard, the man swam to nearby Six Senses Resort and sought help. The police received reports of the incident around 9.30pm .
While helicopters, and coast guard teams and divers from Six Senses Laamu as well as the police and civilians are contributing to search efforts, neither the dinghy nor the woman have been located thus far.
The diving robot was previously utilized in search efforts for two children who were lost at sea in Addu atoll.
