Luxury cruiseliner to set sail for Maldives

Renowned cruise ship operator, MSC's large cruise liner prepares to set sail to the Maldivian archipelago.

MSC Magnifica, a Musica-class cruise ship operated by renowned MSC Cruises will be making a call at Male' port in April. The larger cruise liner is scheduled to arrive in the Maldivian archipelago on 10th April and will sail from Maldives the next day. The luxury vessel will be handled by local agent Travel Connection Maldives during her stay.

Constructed by STX Europe in Saint-Nazaire, the ship was launched in January 2009, completed in January 2010, and entered service in March 2010.

The vessel is 964 ft long, with a beam of 106 ft. The 93,330-gross ton vessel can reach a maximum speed of 23 knots (43 km/h) and has 1,259 cabins - 2,550 passengers can be carried at double occupancy, while 3,605 can be carried at full capacity The ship has over 1200 crew onboard and offers services such as cinemas and swimming pools.

2500 passengers will be arriving in Maldives via the cruise liner. Approximately 50 cruise liners are expected to pass through Maldives this year, estimates Maldives Association of Travel Agent (MATA).
