Maldives' Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid paid a courtesy call to the Foreign Minister of Singapore, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan.
Foreign Ministry revealed that the ministers met in a meeting held on Friday morning during the minister Shahid's ongoing visit to Singapore.
During the meeting, Minister Shahid briefed Dr, Balakrishnan on the work carried out since President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih assumed office in November, and the policies that are being followed by the government.
The ministers also reflected on the age-old friendship that exists between both countries and discussed ways in which the bilateral relations between the two countries can be strengthened in areas of mutual interest.
Dr. Balakrishnan congratulated nd welcomed the Maldives on re-joining the Commonwealth, and acknowledged and encouraged the efforts undertaken by the Maldives to raise awareness on environmental issues.
