Ismail Habeeb Abdul Raheem has been re-elected as a member of the Elections Commission (EC) for a second term.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih handed over the letter of appointment to Habeeb at a ceremony held at the President's Office on Wednesday afternoon.
Before receiving his credentials, Habeeb took his oath and signed the declaration in-front of the president and top court judge, Abdul Ghany Mohamed.
Habeeb has remained as a member of the Elections Commission until today since his initial appointment. His first term as a member of the EC expired on Wednesday, which was renewed the same day.
16 individuals applied for EC membership as Habeeb's first term was nearing its end. The Committee on Independent Institutions scored the highest marks to Habeeb after assessing the applicants. The parliament approved the re-appointment with 58 members voting in his favour.
