Visa waiver approved by Thai govt

The government of Thailand has approved to grant visa-free entry to Maldivians traveling to Thailand.

Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid revealed on Saturday that visa exemption up to 30 days for Maldivians traveling to Thailand will take effect starting from April 14.

Earlier this week, Minister Shahid conducted sideline discussions with Thai delegates at the second high-level meeting of South-South Corporation at Buenos Aires in Argentina. Ways in which the bi-lateral relations between both countries can be strengthened were discussed at the meeting.

The visa waiver arrangement between both countries has now been confirmed.

Since the new government took over administration in 2018, liberal visa arrangements have already been implemented for Maldivians traveling to neighboring India. The government is currently in discussion with the Malaysian government to facilitate visa concessions for Maldivians residing in Malaysia.
