Pres. announces construction of housing units in Nolhivaramfaru

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced that 60 housing units will be constructed in Nolhivaramfaru island of Haa Dhaal atoll.

Speaking at the island during his ongoing campaign trail to the atoll, President Solih said housing issues are a major complaint of those who were migrated to the island, and the issue has not been addressed or resolved in the last seven years.

One of the first decisions made after he took Office in November was to resolve the housing issues faced by the residents of Nolhivaramfaru, thus, the government has made the decision to construct 60 housing units, the president said.

"No solutions were reached even after seven years. Therefore, one of the first plans we made in our governance was to construct 60 housing units in this island to tackle the housing issues faced by the island", said the President.

MVR 27 million has been budgeted for the cause, and the project has already been handed over to a group, the President revealed. The project implementation will commence within the year, he said.

It is one of the key pledges of President Ibrahim Mohmed Solih is to resolve housing issues in the Maldives. The President recently assured that all citizens of the Maldives would have housing by the end of his five year term as President.
