MDP wins full majority of city seats

Main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has secured majority of seats allocated to the three Maldivian cities in the 19th parliamentary election.

The party also holds majority of the seats allocated to Male', Addu City and Fuvahmulah City in the current parliament.

MDP candidates won an astounding 14 out of 15 seats allocated to Male' City, with the only constituency the party failed to secure being the Villimale' seat, which was won by independent candidate Ahmed Usham.

All seven seats of Addu City and the seven seats of Fuvahmulah were acquired by MDP candidates in an overwhelming win.
