HPA gives green light to re-open Rasfannu beach

Rasfannu Beach has been re-opened to the public after being closed due to fecal contamination.

The City council closed off the beach on the recommendation of HPA after fecal matter was discovered in the waters of the recreational beach. Frequent sighting of fecal matter in the Rasfannu waters has been an issue of public concern for sometime. The sewerage line of Male’ City runs through the location.

Deputy Mayor of Male’ City Council Shamau Shareef said the beach was re-opened on Monday after receiving confirmation from Health Protection Agency (HPA) that no signs of fecal matter were found in the waters surrounding the beach.

Rasfannu Beach was developed under the presidency of former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom.
