The Elections Commission (EC) of Maldives will be taking part at a symposium organized by the Elections Commission of Mauritius.
EC members Deputy Commissioner Amjad Musthafa and Spokesperson Ahmed Akram will be attending the event scheduled for June 17 and 18.
Deputy Commissioner Amjad Musthafa is scheduled to address at the symposium on the political pressures and influences faced by the Maldivian Elections Commission, and will highlight on ways in which a commission can do their jobs independently, free of outside influences.
The symposium is being held by Mauritius in celebration of 60 consecutive years of conducting free and fair elections in the country according to democratic principles.
The symposium is a gathering of experts on elections from all over the world, and a platform to share knowledge on holding elections according to democratic principles.
