Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has emphasized the importance of developing Maldives as an attractive tourism and investment destination.
Speaking at the Heads of Mission (HOM) Meeting held on Wednesday, Shahid said the government's targets in building the country's foreign policy were announced during President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's swearing in ceremony, and stated that the government has been working since day one to ensure that Maldivian citizens are fulfilled and content.
Shahid said in order to attain the vision, Maldivian tourism has to be promoted across the globe reach a wider tourist market.
"We have to make use of new methods and technology to develop Maldives as an attractive destination for tourists and investors. Our Maldives need to be a favorable destination for those seeking to invest in tourism, economical and infrastructural projects", said Shahid.
Minister Shahid further said Maldives should be represented in the front-lines of international organizations, and be able to have a voice on important international issues.
