A leading teacher at a local island has been arrested for molesting male and female students at his school.
Gender Ministry revealed that the case was reported to Maldives Police Service after the Ministry was notified of the teacher's actions.
The police revealed that the Maldivian leading teacher of an island in a central atoll is accused of molesting a large number of students of both genders over multiple encounters. While the report of the abuse was received on Saturday, the 46-year old perpetrator was arrested on Monday, the police said.
The case has been brought to the attention of the Education Ministry, they added.
