A man was crushed to death after a cement bag fell from a building under construction.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in reclaimed suburbs Hulhumale'. The bag fell from a building near the Central Park being constructed by a company named Jaah Investments.
The victim was a 24-year old Bangladeshi national working at the site.
Citing doctors, the police revealed that the victim had already passed way by the time he was taken to the hospital. The police and other relevant authorities have launched investigations into the incident.
Just a few days ago, a Bangladeshi employee of company was injured when the cable of a lift gave away at the same construction site. It has not been reported that any action was taken regarding the incident.
Late last year, a nine year old Bangladeshi girl died in a similar incident in Male' city after a cement bag fell on top of her from a building being constructed by W Construction company. While several steps were taken following the incident, adequate action has not been taken to date to ensure the safety of construction sites and workers and the public.
