A foreign construction worker fell to his death on Wednesday from the 14th floor of a building in the capital’s reclaimed suburb, Hulhumale’.
The expatriate was working on the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) housing flats in Phase II of Hulhumale. The incident occurred at around 2:30 pm on Wednesday afternoon, said the police. The man was rushed to the hospital and succumbed to his injuries while being treated at the hospital, said the police.
Several dangerous construction accidents have occured over the past few years, in which some people have died or sustained serious injuries. Both the public and the state have raised concerns regarding the inadequate safety measures taken at some construction sites.
