Newly established airline Manta Air has revealed they are working to commence seaplane services within the next month.
Speaking on PSM, Chief Marketing Officer of Manta Air, Ahmed Maumoon said the airline is obtaining necessary permits from Civil Aviation Authority, and expects to begin seaplane services in September.
Four seaplanes will be used to start their operation, and will increase their seaplane fleet to ten by the end of the year, said Maumoon.
Manta Air currently flies to Dharavandhoo and Kudahuvadhoo. ATR-72-600 model sea planes will be used by the airline. Manta Air's offers include lower fares for those who pre-book their tickets in advance.
National airline Maldivian and Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) currently offer seaplane services in the Maldives. Local airline FlyMe is also working to begin seaplane services.
