US media team arrives to promote Maldives

A team of journalists from the United States have arrived in the Maldives on the invitation of Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC).

The media team arrived in the Maldives on 13th August and will be getting first-hand experience of a Maldivian holiday until 19th August. The purpose of the event is to promote Maldives as a tourist destination.

The delegation consists of journalists and travel writers from New York Times, National Geographic Travel, USA Today, Travel and Leisure and Trip Savvy.

The journalists are visiting Maldives as part of a series of 'FAM trips' organized by MMPRC to increase exposure to Maldives. The team will be staying at Heritance Aaraah Resort and Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort.

During the trip, the journalists will experience Maldivian tourism products, the natural beauty and the underwater life of Maldives. They will publish articles, photos and video content based on their experience in the Maldives for their respective publications.

Media teams from India, UK, and China have visited the Maldives under the FAM series, which was launched after expanding the budget allocated for tourism. MMPRC is collaborating with Singapore Airlines in organizing the trips.

United States remain an optimistic market for Maldivian tourism. 68,421 tourists from the US have visited the Maldives thus far this year. This is a 34% increase compared to the same period last year.
