ACC seeks corruption charges against former MD of WAMCO

Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) submitted a case to Prosecutor General (PG) seeking charges against Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO)'s former Managing Director Mohamed Shifau.

In a report published following investigation into a complaint regarding the issue, ACC said Shifau is accused of misusing his authority as Managing Director of WAMCO to purchase a used dump truck from a company of which he is a shareholder and passing the vehicle off as a new vehicle.

Shifau is being charged under the Prevention and Prohibition of Corruption Act for abuse of authority to unduly benefit a third party. Attainment of undue advantage or the facilitation of attainment of undue advantage through use of influence from position is prohibited under the act.

ACC said Shifau ordered to release the full payment for a 'new truck' to the company while fully aware that the vehicle was a used truck.
