Ministry seeks company for nation-wide clean up project

Finance Ministry is seeking a party to conduct a nation wide clean up.

An announcement made on the behalf of Environment Ministry said the government is seeking a party to clean up garbage collected over long periods from all inhabited islands in the Maldives.

The bid invitation said a non refundable payment of MVR 500 must be paid as a registration fee to participate in the bid. Bid documents and related documentation will be available from the Finance Ministry.

While a bid security of MVR 500,000 should be furnished by the bidder, the security will be valid for 148 days beyond the validity of the bid, and bid opening is scheduled for 24 September.

This is first time a Maldives-wide clean-up program has been announced by the government. Previously, the garbage was being managed by the island councils, or WAMCO.
