Anti-drug efforts require new perspectives - Gender minister

Gender Minister Shidhatha Shareef has stated that various perspectives must be explored in tackling the drug problem that the country is currently facing facing, and said that efforts must be made collectively to address the issue.

Speaking at the National Drug Agency's Open Day 2019, Shidhatha stated that the new forms of communication used in drug trade was an indication of traders finding new ways to engage in the trade, and noted the importance of considering various perspectives in the efforts to tackle the issue.

Shidhatha expressed the need to restructure the current plans in pursuit of eradicating drugs by giving priority to educating the community on the influence and effects of drugs on both individuals and on the society, in a comprehensible manner.
