Toddler critically ill after pond fall airlifted to capital

A toddler who remains in critical condition after falling into a fish pond in Laamu Atoll Gan island has been brought to capital Male for further treatment.

Police said the two year old fell into the deep pond in his house in Gan island on Saturday afternoon. The boy was rushed to the regional hospital in the island.

Hospital manager Ali Nasheed told AVAS on Saturday that the toddler remained on ventilator at intensive care before doctors decided to send him to the capital on Saturday evening.

"We've made arrangements to send him off on a Maldivian flight. They will depart at 10:30", Nasheed had said.
