Maldivian Ambassador to UAE Dr. Hussain Niyaz has stated that Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) is keen on financing projects that would link the islands in the Greater Male' Area, and the development of southernmost Addu atoll.
Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid who travelled to Saudi Arabia for an extraordinary meeting of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) traveled to Abu Dhabhi, UAE on Monday. Shahid tweeted on Tuesday that he called on the Director General of ADFD Mohamed Saif Al Suvadhiya and said that the meeting was positive.
Speaking on the meeting, Ambassador Dr Hussain Niyaz said upcoming projects planned by the government were discussed between the minister and DG Mohamed Saif.
While Minister Shahid requested for funding for the project connecting the islands in the Male' area and the development of Addu City, ADFD expressed interest in the projects, said Niyaz. He further revealed that Minister Shahid and DG Mohamed Saif discussed the ongoing ADFD funded airport development project at N Maafaru.
