Students affected in fire can attend school in daily wear

Education Minstry has announced that all students who were affected in Friday night's fire can attend school in daily wear instead of school uniforms.

The ministry on Saturday said all arrangements have been made such that the affected students can continue to attend their school session in normal wear.

Seven buildings on Abadhahfehi Magu in capital Male' were torched down in Friday night's massive fire. All residents of the buildings have been evacuated.

While 173 people are registered at the temporary shelter established at Kalaafaanu School, accommodation has been arranged for the victims at local guest houses and other locations. The extent of the damages caused are unknown.

However, the whole lives of some families were destroyed in the fire, with all their belongings charred. While these families begin to rebuild their lives, the government has announced their decision to extend financial assistance to the families.
