Transport Minister Aishath Nahula has departed to Montreal, Canada to attend the general assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The ICAO general assembly will be held from 24th September until the 4th of October. While Minister Nahula will be heading the Maldives delegation, several senior officials from Civil Aviation Authority and the Transport Ministry are also taking part in the assembly.
Held every three years, ICAO's 193 Member States and a large number of international organizations are invited to the Assembly, which establishes the worldwide policy of the Organization for the upcoming triennium. 172 member countries and 61 international organizations are taking part in this year's assembly.
The assembly is held in the presence of the international air travel community every three years. This year, 172 member countries out of 192, and 61 international air travel agencies will be attending.
