Workshop on minimizing impacts of terrorism on tourism commences

A workshop on minimizing impacts of terrorism on the tourism industry has commenced in Kurumba Maldives.

Named 'Resort Security Response Management Workshop', 39 participants are taking part in the workshop being held from 14-15 October. The workshop is jointly conducted by my Maldives Police Service and Ministry of Tourism under United Kingdom's "International Protect and Prepare" project.

During the workshop, the emergency response plan of resorts in the event of a terrorist attack will be reviewed and discussed. Preventive measures as well as a plan of action to follow in the case a terrorist attack is successfully pulled off will also be discussed.

Tourism Minister Ali Waheed inaugurated the two day workshop on Monday. Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed, and senior officers of Maldives Police Service as well as officials from Tourism Ministry and those in charge of UK's International Protect and Prepare project were in attendance at the ceremony.
