Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid has arrived in Bangkok on an official visit to Thailand from 15-17 October 2019.
Foreign Ministry said the visit is on the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, Mr. Don Pramudwinai.
Minister Shahid’s visit commemorates the fortieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Thailand, said the ministry. During the visit, Minister Shahid will be holding bilateral talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand on strengthening and further expanding the bilateral cooperation between the and two countries, revealed the ministry.
The ministry further said Minister Shahid will also be hosting an official reception to mark the opening of the Embassy of Maldives in Thailand. The opening of the Embassy will begin a new chapter in the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in facilitating better services for Maldivians visiting Thailand. The Embassy will promote the Maldives’ socio-economic and commercial interests, the export of Maldivian products and services, while assisting both our countries businessmen, workers and investors, they added.
The Minister will reaffirm the Government’s commitment to strengthen the strong economic synergies between the two countries, said the ministry.
