The critically ill toddler who was being treatment at state-run Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) after falling into a pond in his home has been transported to India for further treatment.
The two-year old fell into a pond in his home in Laamu Atoll, Gan on September 14. Initially he was rushed to the regional hospital but was airlifted to the capital the next day after his condition deteriorated.
The child had not regained consciousness when he was taken to India for further treatment. IGMH had earlier stated that he was slowly regaining control over his body.
The pond in which the child fell was rather deep within a structure of bricks encircling it. The boy was found in the water an hour after his family started searching for him.
