India provides MVR 4.6 mln grant to three schools

The Indian government has provided an MVR 4.6 million grant to three schools in the Maldives.

The grant was given to strengthen and enhance the Inclusive Education Support Units at the Haa Alif Atoll Education Center in Haa Alif Dhidhdhoo, Ihahdhoo School in Laamu Gan, and Aboobakuru School in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo.

In a statement, the Indian High Commission in the Maldives said that India would develop infrastructure for the Inclusive Education Support Units, provide necessary resources and facilities, recruit human resources, and provide teaching and learning materials.

The statement further said that more than 45 social projects are being implemented in the Maldives under an MVR 260 million grant from India. Of these, 20 projects have been completed.

Relations between India and the Government of Maldives have strengthened since President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih came into power.
