Expat injured in attempted mugging

An expatriate has been injured after he was attacked by a group in an attempted mugging.

The man was attacked when he refused to hand over money at knife point.

Police said the incident took place in Maafannu ward of capital Male’ on Sunday afternoon.

The victim sustained injuries to one of his fingers and to his back in the attack. The men who attacked the victim fled the scene before the police arrived, the police said.

No arrests have been made thus far in connection to the case.

Eyewitnesses report that four men on two motorcycles attempted to extort money out of the man. They left their motorcycles at the scene when they fled, it has been reported.
