Celta De Vigo partnership signing ceremony to be broadcast live

The signing ceremony of the partnership between the Maldivian government and Spanish football club Celta De Vigo to promote Maldives will be broadcast live on national TV.

The signing ceremony will be held at Celta De Vigo's head quarters in Vigo, Spain in the presence of international media. While the agreement will be signed by Tourism Minster Ali Waheed, the club's President Carlos Mouriño and other officials representing the club will be in attendance.

Following the signing, both partners will speak to the media to give information on the partnership. The ceremony will be held around 1600 hrs local time. The event will be broadcast live both by TVM and Tourist Ministry's twitter handle.

Under the three year partnership between Maldives and Celta De Vigo, Maldives will be promoted on Spain's Celta De Vigo's jerseys, practice kits and stadium as their official sponsor. Costing US$ 900,000 per year, US$ 2.7 million will be spent for the three year partnership.

The club will extend training opportunities for Maldivian players, coaches and officials to develop football in the archipelago. The club will also play friendly matches with the national teams.

Currently ranked at the 18th position in the Relegation Zone of the Spanish league, Celta De Vigo is a Spanish professional football club based in Vigo, Galicia, currently playing in La Liga. While advertising countries on jerseys of European football clubs is common, this is the first time the Maldives will be promoted this way.
