Footballer Denis Suárez holidaying at Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi Maldives

Spanish professional footballer, Denis Suárez Fernánde is holidaying in the Maldives.

The Celta Vigo midfielder is spending his holiday with his partner at Waldorf Astoria Resort in Ithaafushi Maldives. He received a warm welcome upon his arrival in the Maldives by Deputy Minister Tourism Assad Riza.

The 27 year-old footballer has previously played for Barcelona, Villa Real, Arsenal and Manchester City. He is also plays as a midfielder for the Spanish national team.

Maldives in 2019 signed a sponsorship deal with Suarez's current club, Celta Vigo for USD 2.7 million as part of the destination's debut into sports tourism. Several players of the team have visited the Maldives over the past year, and the team has played a significant role in advertising the Maldives after it reopened its doors to tourists after a lockdown in 2020.

Nestled among white sands and crystal blue waters, Ithaafushi is a world-class lifestyle sanctuary and boasts 119 beach, reef and overwater villas. Opened in 2018, the resort was developed by local businessman Mohamed Ali Janah and a middle eastern millionaire.
