Celebrity singer Shakira is sharing snaps and moments from her recent holiday in the Maldives on social media platforms.
Colombia's famed singer Shakira and partner, Barcelona’s footballer Gerard Piqué, along with their two children recently stayed at high end resort, Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi in Kaafu atoll for ten days. Shakira, who has a combined total of over 100 million followers on her social media accounts, shared a short video of her two sons playing with crabs on a Maldivian beach with their father. Sharing a snap from the holiday, Shakira described Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi is one of the ‘sweetest’ destinations in the world.
Shakira, often referred to as the Queen of Latin Music took the world by the storm when she recorded the theme song for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Spanish footballer Piqué, who has a fan base of 18.4 million followers on Instagram and 19.7 million followers on Twitter, plays as a centre-back for Barcelona and is considered to be one of the best defenders in the world. The recent presence of two influential celebrities in the Maldives is likely to boost Maldivian tourism amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nestled among white sands and crystal blue waters, Ithaafushi is a world-class lifestyle sanctuary and boasts 119 beach, reef and overwater villas. Opened in 2018, the resort was developed by local businessman Mohamed Ali Janah and a middle eastern millionaire.
