Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that the number of dengue fever cases registered in the Maldives this year is higher than the incidences recorded in the past two years.
According to statistics publicized by HPA, 4420 cases of dengue fever were reported this year. While this number is higher than the number of cases recorded in the past two years, the number of reported cases in October was lower than that of September, said HPA.
Most cases of the fever were recorded from Shaviyani, Noonu, and Lhaviyani atoll in addition to Male' and Hulhumale' City, said HPA.
In addition to dengue fever, the agency revealed that 1460 cases of Chikungunya were reported this year. Excluding Male' and Hulhumale', the highest incidence of Chikungunya was reported in Raa, and Gaafu Alif Atoll.
